Would you know what to do if your child was choking?

It's been well documented in the press this week about the tragic news of little Jacob Jenkins who lost his life this week following a choking incident involving a grape.

Little Jacob was only two years of age, his life taken far too early and this has highlighted the necessity to be fully aware of what to do with a child that is choking.

Would you know what to do if your child was choking because to be honest I would not have a clue and I'm ashamed and even more worried to admit.

The wonderful people over at St. John's Ambulance have some brilliant sections on their website on keeping our children and adults safe including a super section on choking.

This free printable poster is available here

They have created a free printable poster (above) which we will be printing and laminating and popping in a cupboard for quick reference, after all you can never be too prepared.

The tragic incident this week has as I am sure any parent would feel made me very worried as I go into weaning our second child Hector in the next month. Whilst we do everything in our power to keep an eye on them sometimes things happen that are out of our control and it's in times like these that we need to know what to do. St. John's Ambulance have also made a brilliant section of instructional videos including this one on choking.

The St. John's Ambulance also carry out a range of first aid courses with an all round course costing as little as £30 - Mr Webb and I will definitely be booking ourselves on one of those.

Big love,

This Surrey Mummy x
