Hello October!

Wow - well "Hello" October where an earth did you come from? I can't quite believe that October is already upon us which can only mean one thing! Halloween!! 

I adore Halloween - I love the fact that Charlie this year is even more aware of the event and this weekend we shall be heading to our local farm Garsons Farm in Esher, Surrey. This place always has an awesome selection of Halloween inspired products and not to mention their amazing Pick Your Own Pumpkin Patch!

We are off to St. Ives for Half Term but luckily we will be back for one event that if you've got a family in the Cobham, Oxshott,  Esher area you simply cannot miss. 

Being the Mum Fun Police that I sometimes can be I always find that Halloween can always be a bit of a touch and go scenario. You either embrace it by adorning your front door with carved Jack O'Lanterns and prepare yourself for a night of trick or treaters or for some, especially the old and vunerable shy away from the night (a bit like my grandparents did one year and woke the next morning to find their front door covered in eggs - not nice), whichever way anyone chooses to be is fine. 

Now, some clever person at Cobham Rugby (probably a member of the Mum Fun Police) came up with the idea of an almost car boot style trick or treating. Members of the club decorate their car boots with lots of scary skeletons, pumpkins, ghosts, you know the drill and the kids go from car to car trick or treating. Hurrah! No risk of offending or upsetting anyone and totally safe of toddlers and little people running into the road in the dark as its a ticketed and enclosed event! 

One thing I am going to do differently this year is attempt to make Charlie and Hector's costume so shall be turning to the guru of mood boards for inspiration, Pinterest. When I say I am going to make the boys outfits in reality it'll be Tom as he's a dab hand with a needle and thread! 

Can't help but think Hector would make a cute gnome.

Halloween and then Bonfire night also mean another thing and one of my all time favourite naughty treats....Toffee Apples. The magic of trying to eat a caramel encased apple from what is always a wobbly uncomfortable stick whilst attempting to look dainty and in control is a skill I am yet to master! This Bonfire weekend we are off to friends and I plan to bring a full tray of these caramel beauties! A recipe that I've used time and time again is one from the Good to Know website and it's super easy to follow. 

A must have for Halloween and Bonfire night!
